California lawmakers recently passed Assembly Bill 45, which will help establish some much needed guidance in both the hemp and marijuana sectors. The bill is currently on the way to Gov. Gavin Newsom for his signature. One of the most newsworthy items in the bill, is the banning of THC isomers such as Delta-8.

The measure Assembly Bill 45 will:

  • Allow hemp extracts – including CBD – to be added to food, beverage and cosmetic products.
  • Establish new standard for hemp farmers and businesses. Similar to how cannabis companies are regulated.
  • Permit the sale of smokable hemp.

Even though this bill is primarily focused on Hemp, the cannabis industry stands to benefit because now low-THC hemp products will now be subject to similar regulations.
